The intended films will explore some of the key problems faced by residents in contemporary Italy.
Thursday, September 27 will see the screening of La Seconda Notte di Nozze (The Second Wedding Night), an Italian comedy-drama which was released in 2005.
The film recounts the story of a simple farmer, whose life is thrown into turmoil when his widowed sister-in-law and her son come to live with him after World War II.
Set in Bologna and across rural areas of Puglia, it is a nostalgic story of love and survival in post-war Italy.
Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre is a cultural facility of the Liverpool City Council.
At the end of 2015, the Powerhouse was awarded $750,000 in funding from Arts NSW to be used over a period of three years.
As a result, the centre has experienced a period of unprecedented growth, as it expands and diversifies its programming while transforming into a true multi-disciplinary arts centre.
The centre offers a wide range of events, exhibitions and educational programs.
Other upcoming events include ‘Soft Centre Installation’, an exclusive site specific collaboration between Melbourne-based video installation artist Tristan Jalleh and new Western Sydney hardcore outfit MANA, and ‘Landless Bodies’, an exploration of contemporary diasporic Arab women artists’ experiences of gender.
The Powerhouse includes a 321-seat theatre with full seasons of touring productions from some of Australia's most renowned companies, as well as film and local performance groups, plus the in-house Clayhouse Ceramics Studio.
It is located on Tharawal country, surrounded by 2 kilometres of wilderness along the banks of the Georges River.
