On Sunday, May 26, the New South Wales Abruzzo Association organised an outing for lucky members who were picked up by bus at the Canada Bay Club in Five Dock and the Marconi Club in Bossley Park.

The trip’s destination was the town of Thirlmere, known for the construction of the Great Southern Railway.

Along the way, members made a pitstop for a lovely morning tea in Camden, also organised by the association’s committee.

After lunch at one of Thirlmere’s renowned pubs, the group hopped on the train to Buxton for a visit to the fascinating train museum.

In addition to historic cars and locomotives, the museum also has in its possession vintage tractors.

The group returned to Five Dock at around 6 p.m. after a very successful, well-organised outing that everyone enjoyed.

The Abruzzo Association president, Luigi Bucciarelli, along with the committee, thanked everyone who participated in the day.
