Born into an Italian family on her mother’s side, with grandparents hailing from the Sicilian municipality of Capo d’Orlando, the Perth native has returned west from Melbourne amid the coronavirus pandemic and has had to navigate a string of rescheduled shows over the past year.
But the powerhouse vocalist is all about finding the silver linings and taking a hilarious look at the many curveballs life has thrown at her.
In ‘Feeling Way Too Good: Songs of Michael Bublé’, Woodbrook swaps the tongue-in-cheek and self-aware anthems of Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse from her award-winning Fringe show, It’s Not Me, It’s Definitely You, for the swoon-worthy tunes of Michael Bublé.
“I’m still asking the big questions about life but this time I’m doing it to the tunes of Bublé,” Woodbrook said.
“This is a show that you can see with anyone; your partner, your girlfriends or even your mum.
“And let’s be real, who can resist the charm of Bublé?”
Woodbrook, who has previously starred in hit musicals We Will Rock You, 50 Shades The Musical Parody and Paris: A Rock Odyssey, will reunite with her five-piece band in the world premiere of her new show, which will see her perform some of Bublé’s biggest hits, including Sway, Everything, Cry Me a River and Haven’t Met You Yet for one night only on April 17 at Crown Perth’s Eve Nightclub.
Woodbrook said all of the hits will be performed “with a Lisa edge: fun, cheeky and heartfelt”.
“I’m so excited to have the chance to finally perform this show,” she said.
“It was gut-wrenching when we had to cancel the Fringe World Perth season, so to have the opportunity to finally perform the show, and at Crown Perth - of all venues - is an absolute dream.
“I just want the audience to kick up their heels and have a good time.
“The music is fun, we’ve got some great laughs in store and I want everyone to come out of it feeling way too good.”
