The gathering brought together loved ones from across her extended family, creating a warm and lively atmosphere. Guests enjoyed a generous multi-course meal, accompanied by familiar Italian tunes that soon encouraged some of the more adventurous attendees onto the dance floor.

Widowed four years ago after the passing of her husband Gennarino, Lucia is the mother of two sons, Michele and Raffaele, and part of a large and close-knit family that includes six grandchildren and a two-year-old great-grandson, Lucas.

Born in Potenza, where she married Gennarino in 1964, Lucia migrated to Australia with her husband and their young son Michele, who celebrated his first birthday aboard the ship Roma en route to Melbourne.

The family initially settled in North Melbourne, joining Gennarino’s brothers, Giuseppe and Benito.

In her later years, Lucia became a familiar presence at Frank Barbaro Supermarket in Keilor Park, where she spent much of her time and later worked as an assistant.

Among those attending the celebration were Carmela Barbaro and her daughter Genette, a testament to the strong connections she has built over the years.

The afternoon was filled with smiles, music and heartfelt moments, made all the more special by the sense of community and affection surrounding the birthday celebrant.

Warmest wishes to Lucia for continued health, happiness and many more moments shared with family and friends.
