The Sydney Bocce Club celebrated its Christmas party and the presentation of the prestigious Andrew Valerio Cup on Saturday December 9 at the Western Sports Club.

The event attracted the attention of many fans of bocce who participated in the competition with enthusiasm before celebrating Christmas.

Six teams from the Sydney Bocce Club participated in the Andrew Valerio Cup, demonstrating great skill and sportsmanship.

The winning team consisted of Antonietta Galimi, Domenico Vadalà and Sam Galimi, who overcame the fierce competition with determination and talent.

Second place went to Frank Messina, Antonio Tizzone and Angelo Lo Schiavo, all of whom performed excellently throughout the competition.

Third place went to Rocco Pomponetti, Angelo Rinaldi and Raffaele Castrogiovanne, who were nothing but class the whole competition.

The award ceremony was opened by president Sam Galimi, who expressed sincere thanks to all the sponsors for contributing generously to the success of the event. The presence and support of the sponsors made it possible to organise a high-level competition and create a memorable Italian-style party.

The day was made even more special thanks to the participation of families who shared in the fun. This Christmas party offered everyone there a unique culinary experience, with a delicious four-course menu.

A rich raffle added an element of excitement, especially to the lucky winners!

Alfredo Calcagno’s addictive music got the party in full swing, encouraging everyone to dance and have fun late into the night.

The Sydney Bocce Club does not stop here. Following the success of the party, balls will be rolling again on Monday January 15 from 8:30 a.m.

President Sam Galimi took the opportunity to wish everyone a happy and prosperous New Year, thanking club members for their participation and dedication.

Sports, Christmas celebrations and community spirit turned out to be a winning combination, making the event an outstanding success for the club.

All bocce enthusiasts and their families are looking forward to the club’s upcoming adventures in 2024.

The club, which started in June 2019, meets twice a week and its essence lies in establishing and maintaining strong relationships within the community.

Galimi, who spent years in the commercial sector before embracing retirement, puts his heart into the club.

“Many of our members were builders in the past, and they get together to play bowls, share a drink and attend parties,” said Galimi.

“We try to create a warm and friendly atmosphere, a family spirit and a group to get together, in spite of the passing years.”
