From June 8 to 10, eatPRATO will offer a tantalising menu of events, tastings, cooking shows and guided tours that explore the area and its flavours.
With an ancient and walkable centre surrounded by 14th century walls, Prato is home to myriad architectural and artistic wonders.
The second largest city in Tuscany, it is also renowned for its culinary delights, all of which are showcased at eatPRATO.
The heart of the event is the Giardino Buonamici, which will be transformed into a garden of delicacies where visitors can indulge in local products.
Festivalgoers can’t miss the chance to sample Carmignano wines, mortadella di Prato, bread, baked goods, dried figs from Carmignano and Prato peaches.
There will be many occasions to enjoy local food, such as “Cammina&Gusta” (literally “walk and taste”), an event which will include four dishes paired with four wines, each to be savoured in a different location.
The three-day festival will also include children’s activities, such as a FoodArt area, where kids can create edible works of art, and a designated section for games with food.
Over the weekend, guided tours to three of the city’s museums - Museo di Palazzo Pretorio, Museo del Tessuto and Centro Pecci - will celebrate the connection between food and art, all for a symbolic entrance fee of €1.
From breakfasts to aperitivo events and live music, eatPRATO has all the requisites of a foodie’s dream weekend.
