The event was held at the Canada Bay Club and celebrated not only those in love, but also those who believe in and value friendship.

The highlight of the evening was a marriage proposal by Domenico Iacono, originally from Canneto (Lipari) and currently holidaying in Australia, to his fiancée Giovanna Gullo. The moment that drew warm applause from the 190 guests in attendance.

Part of the evening’s success was credited to the organising committee, which deliberately kept the first part of the night free of formalities, allowing guests to mingle and chat in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.

On behalf of the executive committee, president and master of ceremonies Fausto Biviano welcomed everyone and thanked guests for their appreciated presence, wishing them an enjoyable evening. He also pointed out a small gift placed on each table—chocolate hearts for the occasion.

Special thanks were extended to the sponsors who donated prizes for the raffle and who continue to support the association’s activities—in particular the Canada Bay Club for the excellent dinner and table service, and Pino Jewellers for its generosity.

Appreciation was also expressed to the executive committee for its hard work throughout the year and to secretary Kathy Giuffre for the countless hours she dedicates to the association.

DJ Frank Mazzotta was welcomed to the stage and kept the dancefloor lively throughout the night. The meal, prepared by the Canada Bay Club’s chefs, was widely praised and satisfied even the most discerning palates.

Several milestones were celebrated during the evening: Linda Restuccia’s birthday, Sam and Vera Raiti’s 60th wedding anniversary, and Vittorio Locantro’s birthday.

The night concluded with the raffle draw. The first prize—a television donated by the Canada Bay Club—was won by Rose Cascio.

The event was widely regarded as a great success, thanks in no small part to the dedication of a committee that continues to work tirelessly to keep the Aeolian community of Sydney united.
