Ternana took the lead in under eight minutes when Cesar Falletti scored a cheeky ‘Panenka’ penalty awarded for handball.
The home side equalised in under two minutes when Tommy Maistrello, from inside the corner of the six-yard box, side footed in a square pass by Alessio Vita.
Claudio Cassano put Cittadella ahead in the 29th minute with an excellent strike from outside the box.
Ternana equalised in style with six minutes remaining as Frederik Sorensen hit a half volley on the turn.
The point lifts Cittadella into eighth on the table – the final playoff place. Ternana are currently 16th.
