The home side had 56 per cent possession and created eight chances to Udinese’s ten.

Salernitana had a good chance just before half time, but Emil Bohinen’s shot from the edge of the box just looped over the crossbar.

Several minutes later it was Udinese’s turn to go close, this time from a corner as Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa pulled off a stunning diving save to deny a header from Nehuen Perez.

The breakthrough came for the visitors in the 57th minute when Lazar Samardzic got on the end of Lorenzo Lucca’s flick on in the box to volley past Ochoa.

Boulaye Dia equalised for Salernitana in the 72nd minute after being put through on goal by Antonio Candreva and beating the keeper at the near post.

Both sides are yet to win.
