As important State and Federal elections near, issues like population growth, planning limits, negative gearing, property prices and sustainability move to the forefront of voters’ minds.

On Wednesday, October 24, Australian-Italian Leaders of Tomorrow (ALTO) will explore these topics in their networking event ‘Planning Melbourne for the Future’, to be held at Holding Redlich, in Bourke Street.

The event will feature a panel discussion surrounding the key issues which shape the current political agenda, and will facilitate an honest conversation about the direction being taken to plan the Melbourne of tomorrow.

Expert guest panellists will include: Danielle Green MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Major Events and Regional Victoria; Paolo Lavisci, Program Development Manager at WoodSolutions; Rob Burgess, National Director - Research at Charter Keck Cramer; and Joseph Monaghan, Planning Partner at Holding Redlich.

‘Planning Melbourne for the Future’ is ALTO’s third networking event for 2018, following the success of ‘Italians and Food’, which took place on Thursday, September 6, and was hosted by Pitcher Partners at their new offices in Docklands.

More than 170 people participated in the event, which included activation stations and complimentary tastings of well-known and innovative Italian food and wine brands.

Caterina Borsato of Caterina’s Cucina e Bar hosted the panel discussion, in which Johnny Di Francesco of 400 Gradi, Peter Mastro of Saluministi, and Marco Singarella of Vino Bambino spoke about establishing their businesses and Melbourne’s evolving food culture.

Founded in 2013 with the aim of connecting the next generation of Italo-Australians and building a strong, active and enduring community network, ALTO runs events which showcase the great contributions Italo-Australians make in professional industries across Australia and inspire future community leaders.

The association also participates in community events, and will be present at this year’s famous Carlton Italian Festa, set to unfold on Sunday, October 21.

Festivalgoers will have the chance to meet members of ALTO’s committee, discover more about the association, sign up for a lifetime ALTO membership and, most excitingly, enter a raffle to win two tickets to its upcoming event, valued at $80.

If we’ve piqued your interest and you can’t wait until then, visit ALTO’s website to find out more about the association and how you can get involved.
