Under warm conditions, both teams looked to stamp their authority on the game early on and take control of the contest.

In the 15th minute, Avengers midfielder Kristian Trajcevski pressured the Altona Magic defender in possession high up the pitch.

Trajcevski pinched the ball and immediately drove into the box before delivering a precise cross to an unmarked Stefan Valentini, who placed the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0.

Eight minutes later, Avondale midfielder and captain on the day, Yitay Towns, found teammate Luca Tevere in a pocket of space allowing Tevere to drive forward with the ball.

After a couple more passes, the ball ended up at the feet of Kur Kur, who placed it passed the oncoming keeper.

The second half saw continued pressure and attacks from the Avengers.

In the 53rd minute, Kalilou Kamara found himself in possession on the edge of the Altona Magic penalty box. Kamara showed tricky feet by dancing his way past two defenders before striking the ball and forcing the keeper into a save, with Jackson Courtney-Perkins there to poke in the parried shot.

The Avengers continued to create chances, but the Altona keeper was in great form and pulled off some spectacular saves.

In the 89th minute, substitute Manny Aguek dribbled his opponent in the box and squared the ball for fellow substitute Joey Katebian, who calmly placed it into the bottom left corner.

The match ended 4-0 as a strong and convincing performance from the Avengers keeps them on top of the NPL Victoria standings.
