One of the most prominent artists of the Italian music scene in Australia, Gisella Cozzo, performed her new song Last Christmas, along with other originals in St Kilda on December 17 at the Art Gallery of Enza Benincasa.

Benincasa is another artist of Italian origin whose work was on display, finely contributing to the wonderful atmosphere for this much-awaited event.

The Music & Live Art Show was an opportunity to listen to Gisella’s deep soul and pop voice, while admiring the uniqueness of Benincasa’s “psycho-geographic” art.

Benincasa also created an entirely new piece of art during the event, the sale of which went towards helping the less fortunate. In fact, the event also functioned as a fundraiser for Red Cross Australia.

“I wanted to create this event to establish a union between visual arts and music for a good cause,” explained Cozzo.

Cozzo, who lives in Milan, returned to Australia for the charity event.

“During COVID-19, I did volunteer work in Italy with the [Italian] Red Cross, and I wanted to bring this message of sharing and generosity to Melbourne,” she added.

“[Giving] is part of my personality and I have always used my art to help others.”

Once again, the heart and generosity of the Italian-Australian community gave a smile to those who, especially during Christmas, found themselves struggling.
