It is from this awareness that Carnevaliamo 2026 was born: a large community celebration organised by Famiglie Downunder, designed to bring that joyful, colourful and carefree Carnevale atmosphere to Brisbane.

On Sunday, February 15, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Brisbane Abruzzo Club in Carina will be transformed into a small corner of Italy, where children, parents and grandparents can come together for a day dedicated entirely to fun, togetherness and the traditions of home.

The goal is not simply to host a party, but to offer a meaningful opportunity for younger generations, many of whom were born in Australia, to experience the customs their families grew up with: dressing up, laughing together, dancing, playing games and sharing food, just as it once happened in town squares and parish halls back in Italy.

It’s a simple yet powerful way of passing on language, culture and a sense of belonging, while creating memories that last.

The program is packed and designed for all ages. There will be a jumping castle for children, a kids’ disco with a DJ, a costume parade with prizes, a raffle, live music and ongoing entertainment throughout the day.

The club’s bar and kitchen will be open, serving familiar Italian dishes. And dressing up isn’t just for the kids—adults are encouraged to join in too, because at Carnevale time, everyone is allowed to feel like a child again.

Carnevaliamo 2026 is also the association’s main fundraising event of the year. By taking part, attendees support the many activities that Famiglie Downunder organises throughout the year for Brisbane’s Italian community, such as social gatherings, cultural initiatives and family-focused projects.

Over time, this ongoing work has helped many people feel less isolated and more connected, building networks of friendship and mutual support.

Places are limited, and in past years the event has sold out quickly—a clear sign of how eagerly the community awaits this celebration.

It’s therefore recommended to purchase tickets in advance, with discounted rates and benefits available for members.

Carnevaliamo 2026  promises to be a day filled with confetti, Italian music and laughter, capable of turning a local club into a small village festival, if only for a few hours.

Even though Carnevale isn’t traditionally celebrated in Australia, in Brisbane there are those who have chosen not to let it go.

And so, even on the other side of the world, it’s still possible to feel a little closer to home.
