He will perform during an exclusive evening at the Sydney Cricket Ground on April 3, accompanied by special guests.

Following the phenomenal success of his national tour in 2022, fans will once again have the chance to experience the magic of his voice and hear his most celebrated songs live.

His repertoire will span from the timeless masterpieces that have accompanied us over the past three decades to his more recent melodies, which still have the power to move and stir the hearts of those listening.

“These moments are much more than just concerts; they are profound experiences where music allows us to come together and celebrate life,” the renowned tenor explained.

Behind his decision to return Down Under, Bocelli revealed there is, first and foremost, a “deep and mutual love”.

“It’s what connects me to your great country,” the tenor said in our interview. “I still vividly remember the 2022 tour, and I carry in my heart the warmth and positive energy I received during those concerts - including in Sydney where I was joined on stage by my children, Matteo and Virginia.”

As part of his Asian tour - which includes stops in Macau, Hanoi and Taipei - Bocelli expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to sing once more “in a land that is logistically so far away, yet emotionally so close to my heart”.

“I never tire of saying that in this fascinating country, I’ve always felt at home among the kind, cordial and empathetic people.

“Also, when my children were little, we took a few days off for an unforgettable holiday which they still recall today with gratitude and even a touch of nostalgia.”

Deeply grateful to his devoted Australian fans for “allowing his music to become part of their lives”, Bocelli hopes that his upcoming Sydney concert “will create an experience of great impact, both spiritually and sensorially”.

“I must also thank my team, who accompany me on my tours and often arrive ahead of me at the venues where I will be singing, ensuring that everything is perfectly organised logistically, technically and artistically,” he added.

A 70-piece orchestra and a 60-member choir will accompany the great tenor in delivering an incredible evening “dedicated to the beauty of art, with the intention of bringing a little positivity, a smile and a moment of tenderness”.

“If that happens, as I always say, I will have achieved my goal!” he said.

“The more the years pass, the more I feel the need to communicate bright and uplifting emotions. Music, after all, is the voice of the soul, and it can and must carry a strong message of peace and brotherhood,” the tenor continued.

“I believe that every artist should be aware of the profound responsibility they hold in society. Through this concert, I want to embrace the entire city and its audience - an audience that, with spontaneity, authenticity and generosity, knows how to express its enthusiasm and passion for great music.

“Taking to the stage is my way of thanking them in person, one by one, and sharing an evening in which, together, we will pay tribute to beauty.”

With a career spanning over thirty years - having sold more than 90 million albums, generating over 16 billion streams and consistently serving as an ambassador of Italian culture worldwide - Bocelli is convinced that each of his concerts is a unique musical experience shaped by countless variables.

Nonetheless, his performances follow a well-established structure favoured by the artist: the first half will be dedicated to universally renowned and beloved operatic pieces - featuring music by Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini - while the second half will showcase popular romances and the most well-known songs from his pop repertoire.

“Among the guests who will join me will be the splendid voice of soprano Mariam Battistelli and the brilliant, multifaceted talent of Amy Manford, a special guest for the evening,” Bocelli revealed.

“There will also be a world-renowned flute virtuoso, Andrea Griminelli, who previously collaborated with Luciano Pavarotti.

“[Also joining me will be] my son, Matteo, fresh from success in the United States and South America.

“On the podium, just as in 2022, will be Maestro Carlo Bernini - a lifelong dear friend and an excellent professional, a must-have for conducting such a complex evening, especially given the variety of the repertoire.”

The desire to return to Australia and continue expressing himself through music remains strong: there are no breaks or steps back, as music has always been his “therapy”.

“It’s a way to bring lightness to life. I have personally experienced its healing power. Art is a gift from above, meant to uplift the spirit and spread goodness,” he said.

“Good music can educate us. [It can] convey peace, love and brotherhood, and open our hearts and minds.

“I don’t particularly love travelling - perhaps because I’ve been doing it non-stop since the mid-’90s and spend most of the year abroad. However, what gives me the strength to continue is precisely the reason behind the journey - its destination - which is the encounter with my audience,” Bocelli confided.

“I have the immense privilege of being appreciated in many countries around the world, and the only way to thank and honour such affection is to board a plane and reach my audience, wherever they may be.

“I believe it is also a moral duty. But above all, for me, it’s a tremendous joy.”
