It was during the Annual General Meeting, held at the new headquarters in Stafford, that Maruca officially announced her resignation as president of ANFE.

In her report for the financial year ending June 30, 2025, Maruca described 2024–2025 as one of the most significant and transformative years in the organisation’s history.

It was marked by the temporary closure of the Newstead premises, the relocation process and the official reopening in Stafford—a period of transition and substantial renewal that required courage, careful management and unity.

During the meeting, after presenting the year’s results and highlighting the association’s solid assets and absence of external debt, Maruca announced that this would be her final address as president.

It was a moment of deep significance, closing a chapter that began long before her formal mandate.

In her speech, she retraced the stages of her commitment: from serving as treasurer between 2011 and 2014, to her involvement in the youth group in the 1980s and as president of ANFE Giovani in the 1990s, culminating in her leadership of the association for over a decade.

Her bond with ANFE runs even deeper: her father, the late Carmelo Caruso, founded the association in 1962. “I grew up in ANFE,” she recalled, explaining that her commitment was never about personal ambition, but about responsibility and continuity.

Among the achievements of her presidency, she cited strengthened governance, the protection and growth of the association’s assets, the expansion of cultural activities and, above all, the opening of the new headquarters—a milestone she views as the symbolic completion of a generational circle.

In her closing remarks, delivered also in Italian, she reaffirmed that ANFE is not merely an association, but a story of sacrifice and love for Italian culture that is now entrusted to a new generation of leadership. With the approval of her report, her mandate was formally concluded.

Later, Maruca shared a more personal message on social media, thanking members, volunteers, sponsors and supporters for having “walked” alongside her over the years.

It was a farewell that did not sound like a goodbye, but rather a passing of the baton—the awareness of having safeguarded and strengthened a legacy, and of now handing it over with trust and pride to those who will carry forward the spirit of ANFE.

With gratitude and from the heart, she concluded: “Long live ANFE!”
