The 21-year-old was born in San Marco in Lamis, in the Apulia region, and currently lives in the suburb of Footscray, in Melbourne’s west.

Anna migrated to Australia with her family 13 years ago and once she completed her schooling, she started working at a bank in Melbourne.

In the meantime, she honed her skills in Spanish and Portuguese.

The methodical and repetitive nature of Anna’s job at the bank didn’t suit her outgoing personality and she began considering other options.

In the end, she chose a career with Victoria Police, which is currently investing in a recruitment campaign for female officers.

Anna passed the training with flying colours and has been assigned to the Russell Street Police Headquarters.

Her versatile language skills have been useful in investigations and cases involving migrants, particularly in more delicate situations concerning women and children.

Anna says she’s happy in her new career and wishes to one day return to her hometown in Italy.
