The employee of the western Sydney aged care facility did not go to work while infectious, NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant confirmed.
It brings the number of cases associated with the facility – which is currently under investigation by the federal aged care watchdog – to 70, while 16 residents have died after testing positive for coronavirus.
After some workers had complained about bleeding noses and pain from daily testing for the virus, swabs are now being carried out on every second day, or on alternate shifts.
“You’ll find that goes above and beyond any screening recommendations given,” Dr Chant said.
As for the other three new cases in NSW overnight, one was a close contact of a confirmed case and two are under investigation.
More than 9400 people in NSW have come forward for testing over the past 24 hours, a figure Premier Gladys Berejiklian has called an “outstanding” result.
“I want to thank the community for your patience but also heeding the advice that we are giving,” she said.
“The more people that come forward and get tested the better our ability to monitor the spread and further consider easing the restrictions.”
The premier confirmed NSW would not implement the easing of social distancing restrictions set out in today’s National Cabinet meeting, scheduled to take place at 10:00 am.
“NSW will be considering the data we collected in May, to make sure that any further consideration of easing restrictions will be done in a solid way so that we continue to gain ground,” she declared.
However, two adults and any dependent children can now visit another household across the state.
