Speaking at a Grenoble prison, the 21-year-old from Fermo gave his consent to his extradition to Italy.

He was arrested in Lyon last Wednesday and is “seriously suspected”, according to the Aosta public prosecutor’s office, of the murder of his companion, 22-year-old Auriane Nathalie Laisne.

The victim was stabbed to death and then found dead on April 5 in a small, ruined church above La Salle, in the Aosta Valley.

The accused, who lives in Grenoble, will on Thursday appear before the judges of the ‘chambre de l’instruction’ of the Grenoble Court of Appeal.

The judges will have to rule on his surrender after a European arrest warrant was issued by Italy.

A decision is expected within seven days.
