The film received a standing ovation lasting almost five minutes, along with glowing reviews from international critics.

From the same man who brought us 'Samson and Delilah', the film also took home the festival’s Special Jury Prize.

Starring Sam Neill, Bryan Brown, Ewen Leslie, and newcomer Hamilton Morris, 'Sweet Country' tells the story of 1920s Alice Springs where a young boy witnesses an Aboriginal stockman kill a white station owner in self-defence.

The film was inspired by true events, and is set in the Northern Territory frontier, where justice itself is put on trial.

Filming took place at Ooraminna Station, a working cattle station around 30 kilometres south of Alice Springs.

'Sweet Country' will have its Australian premiere at the Adelaide Film Festival next month and will release nationally in 2018.
