Normally held every two years, indications are that the organisers have used the extra time to prepare what promises to be a spectacular event.
The spectacle not only showcases civilian aircraft but also state of the art military hardware, including military vehicles and aircraft support equipment.
Attendees will have the opportunity to see and speak to a multitude of aerospace industry representatives at the event.
For those with a penchant for nostalgia, there will also be an array of vintage and ex-military aircraft on display.
A regular feature of the Avalon Airshow is the B-52 Stratofortress. The aircraft will do a ‘flypast’ on Saturday, March 4 over the Avalon airfield as part of the 2023 show.
The B-52 has been in service with the United States Air Force (USAF) for approximately 70 years, with most aircraft being considerably older than the crew that fly them.
The USAF intends to fly a limited number of B-52s at operational capability beyond 2045. If they do reach this milestone, the aircraft would make aviation history by being in operational service for almost 90 years.
