Following their first loss of the season in Round 7, the Avengers came out with intent, controlling possession from the first whistle.
Their fast-paced start was evident as they looked to take early control of the match.
In the 10th minute, midfielders Trajcevski and Tevere combined beautifully to set up Zinni in a one-on-one situation. The winger skillfully beat his defender, delivering a cross into the Hume City penalty area, which was intercepted by an opponent’s hand. The referee did not hesitate in awarding Avondale a penalty.
Manny Aguek stepped up to the spot and calmly sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, securing his fifth goal of the season and giving Avondale an early lead.
For the remainder of the first half, the Avengers dominated possession, moving the ball quickly and creating multiple chances by breaking through the Hume City defense.
The second half picked up where the first left off, with Avondale continuing to press for a second goal. In the 56th minute, a misplaced clearance from the Hume City goalkeeper fell to Kur Kur, who intercepted brilliantly. Weaving past three defenders, he delivered a perfect pass to Zinni, who slotted home Avondale’s second goal of the match.
The Avengers remained in control for the rest of the game, defending Hume City’s attacking plays with composure.
As the final whistle blew, Avondale secured a 2-0 victory, marking their seventh win of the season out of eight matches.
