Avondale FC scored first in injury time of the first half with The Avenger’s best and fairest from 2023, Zinni scoring.

Ahmed finished a great run from the halfway line, playing a through ball to Zinni who calmly beat the keeper.  

Hume City scored from long range in the 78th minute to make it 1-1, but Ahmed scored a penalty in the 87th minute to ensure The Avengers left Hume with the maximum number of points.

El Hayek played a one-two with Ahmed on the right wing, and as El Hayek cut into the box he was fouled, allowing Ahmed to score from the spot.

With other results going their way, Avondale FC move to equal first.

Avondale FC play away to newly promoted Manningham United this Saturday, March 16 at Pettys Reserve. Kick-off is at 3 p.m.

Manningham will be looking to get out of the relegation zone as they are currently equal second last, whilst Avondale FC will look to continue leading the competition.
