The incident occurred after an error in the preparation of a baby bottle, with the alcoholic substance mistakenly used to dilute powdered milk.
It was the baby’s mother who, after realising the mistake, accompanied him to the emergency room of the Perrino Hospital in Brindisi.
The baby was given urgent treatment, including a gastric lavage before being intubated and transferred to Bari.
The Brindisi public prosecutor’s office was also informed of the case and may acquire medical documentation on the incident in the next few hours.
