“We, the leaders of the Group of Seven, reaffirm our firm support for Ukraine for as long as it takes,” the G7 said in a statement marking the 1000th day since Moscow invaded its neighbour.
“We remain in solidarity in contributing to its struggle for sovereignty, freedom, independence, territorial integrity and its reconstruction.
“We also recognise the impact of Russia’s aggression on vulnerable people around the world.”
The group also said Moscow was the only obstacle to peace and it would press ahead with sanctions on Russia.
“After 1000 days of war, we recognise the immense suffering endured by the Ukrainian people.
“Despite these hardships, Ukrainians have demonstrated unparalleled resilience and determination to defend their land, their culture and their people.
“Russia remains the sole obstacle to a just and lasting peace.
“The G7 remains committed to imposing severe costs on Russia through sanctions, export controls and other effective measures.
“We stand united with Ukraine.”
