Possession was even with the home team creating ten chances to Verona’s 11.

Andrea Pinamonti put Sassuolo ahead in the 11th minute with a header from close range.

Verona didn’t equalise until the 56th minute when Cyril Ngonge’s curling cross into the box evaded everyone, finding the back of the net.

Sassuolo regained their lead seven minutes later when Berardi was put through on goal by Armand Lauriente and beat Lorenzo Montipo at his near post.

Berardi had a brace in the 73rd minute when he scored a penalty awarded for a clumsy challenge on him by Josh Doig.

Sassuolo get their first win of the season.
