Berlusconi ‘better’ according to son Luigi

Luigi Berlusconi, the youngest son of three-time prime minister and leader of the centre-right Forza Italia party Silvio Berlusconi, said his father is “better” following a hospital visit on Wednesday.

The 86-year-old billionaire businessman was admitted to the intensive care unit at Milan's San Raffaele hospital with a lung infection and chronic leukemia last Wednesday.

Earlier in the day Health Minister Orazio Schillaci described Berlusconi as a “delicate patient”.

“I am following the bulletins on Silvio Berlusconi's health. I wish him a speedy recovery,” said Schillaci.

“He is in intensive care and is a delicate patient but I hope he can recover to return to all his activities.”

Centre-right lawmakers in the Lower House accompanied well wishes for the ailing leader with a round of applause.
