Gates, 67 and the world’s fourth-richest man, bought the property whose original name is Vila San Giorgio through his Four Seasons real-estate company that he bought from Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal for USD $2.2 billion in 2021.
The 1,200 square metre property is today split into 12 mini-apartments with a private lift that goes down to the beach below the castle.
The Microsoft founder is said to have bought it to turn it into a luxury hotel for his Four Seasons chain.
The villa is said to have cost Gates USD $50-60 million.
He bought it from a Genoese insurance company.
