The brave, seemingly oblivious, bird forced a bus and a number of cars to come to a halt just outside of the Marino hospital, as it walked slowly across the street towards a beach.
Local man Vincenzo Carta captured the incident with his phone, and the image went viral when his friend, city councillor Fabrizio Marcello, posted it on his social media page.
“Everyone stops, His Majesty the Flamingo passes,” he wrote in a caption with the photo.
“The nice thing was that the Ctm bus, along with the other cars, stopped, he had some shots taken, until his majesty resumed his walk on the ‘hundred thousand (Poetto) beach’, where he even allowed himself a swim.
