Possession was roughly equal but the home side dominated the chances created stat with 13 shots on goal to Dortmund’s meagre three.
The visitors took the lead in the 15th minute when Serhou Guirassy converted a penalty awarded after Bologna fullback Emil Holm was adjudged to have held the shirt of Waldemar Anton during a corner.
Guirassy went with a Panenka that almost went horribly wrong as Bologna goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski got a slight hand to it, but fortunately for the Guinea international it wasn’t enough to keep it out.
After trailing at the break, Bologna came out with a sense of purpose and scored two goals in just as many minutes to take the lead.
Thijs Dallinga made it 1-1 with a tap in after the ball was put on a silver platter for him by Jens Odgaard from the left in the 71st minute.
Around 90 seconds later, Samuel Iling-Junior scored the winner after Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel parried another shot by Dallinga straight into his path.

Bologna are 27th on the UCL table with five points, and cannot make it into the top 24 as two of the three teams they need to lose their remaining games, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, are playing against each other next.
