The opening half was tightly contested, with both sides pressing aggressively and battling for control in midfield. Bologna appeared slightly more dangerous in the early exchanges, using width and quick transitions to stretch the Roma defence, but clear chances remained limited before the break.

The deadlock was broken shortly after halftime. In the 50th minute, Federico Bernardeschi fired Bologna ahead with a left-footed curling shot into the far post from the right wing.

The goal rewarded Bologna’s energetic approach and ignited the home crowd as the Rossoblù looked to seize the initiative in the tie.

Roma responded with determination and gradually grew into the match. Their pressure paid off in the 71st minute, when Lorenzo Pellegrini finished from close range after a poor turnover moments earlier led to a Roma counterattack.

Both teams searched for a late winner in an increasingly open final phase. Roma came closest to taking the lead when a late effort struck the post, while Bologna continued to threaten through set-pieces and long-range attempts.

However, neither side could find the decisive breakthrough. The 1–1 draw means everything remains to play for when the teams meet again at the Stadio Olimpico.
