The home side had 65 per cent possession and created 15 chances to Lecce’s ten.
Bologna went ahead in under five minutes when Sam Beukema was in the right place at the right time as the goalkeeper deflected an earlier shot right at him. From six yards out, he hit the ball into the roof of the net.
Riccardo Orsolini made it 2-0 in the 27th minute, sending it through Lecce keeper Wladimiro Falcone’s legs from a very tight angle.
Orsolini had his brace four minutes after half time when his first-time shot went into the far top corner.
Jens Odgaard put the icing on the cake for Bologna in the 82nd minute when he robbed Federico Baschirotto of the ball in his own defensive half before driving the ball up the field himself and neatly slotting it past the oncoming Falcone.
Bologna are fifth, three points behind Atalanta in fourth.
Lecce are 13th, five points clear of the drop.
