Expressions of interest were submitted by 32 clubs.

The 26 remaining applicants are now entering the Request for Proposal (RFP) phase.

According to Football Australia’s website:

The RFP phase will involve the distribution of comprehensive Bid Documents to the shortlisted clubs, including an information memorandum, NST related data, financial forecasts, key terms of a Club Participation Agreement, and draft transaction documents.

Brunswick Juventus chairman Joseph Sala said that while the club is excited, they’re taking things one step at a time.

“It’s just another step in the process,” he said.

“I think most clubs are still testing the water to be frank and honest.”

Sala said the club is still in the dark as to what the RFP phase will specifically require.

“We’re yet to see the final criteria,” he explained.

“There’s been no communication yet.”

Despite the measured approach, Sala feels the club is in a good position heading into the next phase.

“Our corporate partners are supportive and so is our local council,” he said.

“Are we ready? I’d say we would be. Do we want to? Yes, we do want to. Is it going to fit? Well, that all depends on how the federation and the league sees itself being set up and what’s the expectation placed on clubs.”
