It was a beautiful day with a perfect pitch at Dunstan Reserve for the NPL2 Round 6 derby between Brunswick City and Brunswick Juventus.
After a tough week off the field, it was up to the young Luca Andreacchio to raise the morale of the team from the dugout.
The week, as mentioned, started badly with yet another postponement of the Heritage cup, a famous youth competition, and the closure of the fields by the local municipality, as well as the resignation of Watson.
It was a nervy game with very high stakes for the guests who lined up in a prudent 3-5-2 formation.
The hosts start poorly. They lacked accuracy and looked ruffled.
The more orderly zebras were unable to capitalise from their dominance.
Half time arrived without either side scoring.
The second half continued in a fashion very similar to the first.
Eventually, Juventus would get their goal through Emerson in the 76’.
Twenty minutes later, Emerson scored his brace after punishing a defensive error.
The game ended 2-0 for the bianconeri.
It was a courageous underdog win, having been affected by heavy absences.
At the final whistle the players could barely move, they were exhausted on the ground and hugging each other.
It was a deserved victory for the zebras, who punished a bland and impotent performance by the hosts that left the famously calm Sabatini railing against his own players in the locker room.
Juventus move out of the relegation zone and settle in mid-table while waiting for a new coach.
The next game is on Friday, March 31 at home at CB SMITH Stadium against rivals Pascoe Vale who will be looking to come back from a heavy loss.
Kick-off is at 8:30pm, watch it live on Il Globo TV.
