Both teams created a lot of chances, with the home side having 15 scoring opportunities to Ternana’s ten.

Cagliari took the in under four minutes thanks to Alessandro Deiola getting on the end of a cross from Nahitan Nandez.

Deiola side-footed the ball straight into the path of a Iannarelli in goals, but the Ternana keeper was moving backwards and still couldn’t manage to keep the ball from crossing the line.

It only took eight minutes for Ternana to have their equaliser, thanks to a brilliant turn and finish from Partipilo.

In a move that started from a throw-in, the ball bandied about before Mamdou Coulibaly headed it into the path of Partipilo whose left-foot shot went in before Radunovic could properly dive.

Ternana went close to taking the lead through Andrea Favilli, but his curling shot was just off target.

Cagliari should have gone ahead again early in the second half thanks to a horrible pass from Ternana’s Niccolo Corrado who scuffed his attempt at switching the ball and turned it over.

The turnover wasn’t punished as Zito Luvumbo’s resulting finish was wide from ten yards out.

The home side would eventually have their lead through Gabriele Zappa, who took advantage of teammate Gianluca Lapadula’s inviting cross-goal pass and finished from close range.

The match finished with a flurry of chances for both sides, but neither were able to score again.

Tensions were running high and in the 94th minute, Ternana’s Salim Diakite was sent off for heavily remonstrating with the referee.

Cagliari sit in sixth, while Ternana are 12th, three points outside the playoffs but it could be more after Reggina and Pisa play their matches.
