The tournament was sponsored by Steve Maglieri and his family, long-time supporters and passionate advocates of the sport of bocce.

The event drew strong participation, with many players competing in an open doubles format, choosing their own partners in an atmosphere marked by sportsmanship and conviviality.

The day opened with a minute’s silence in memory of Gery Covino and Mirella Mancini, both recently deceased.

Mancini, a prominent figure in South Australian bocce, is remembered for her tireless commitment to promoting the game and for her long tenure as president of the South Australia Bocce Federation, a role she held until just over two years ago.

Morning matches were accompanied by hot coffee and homemade sweets prepared and offered by players Rosa Maglieri, Maria Ciaramella, Franca Romano and Antonia Zotti.

At lunchtime, Maria Mignone, assisted by Maria Carrozza and her husband Mario, served a much-appreciated meal, paired with wines from Serafino Wines—which also gifted each participant two bottles.

Under the careful refereeing of Gennaro Galasso, with Rocco Boffa on photography duty, the tournament delivered closely contested matches and notable performances.

Victory went to Carlo and Filomena Megetto, followed by Angelo Varricchio and Maria Ciaramella in second place.

Third place was claimed by Rosa Maglieri and Antonio Petroccia, while Clemente Maione and Antonio Di Blasio finished fourth.

It was a successful day marked by sport, solidarity and friendship. Congratulations to all involved.
