It was Lecco’s turn to take the lead four minutes after their first goal thanks to Mats Lemmens, who headed in Artur Ionita’s looping cross in off the post.
Dimitrios Sounas restored parity four minutes after half time with a wonderful volley on the turn in a crowded box.
Pietro Iemmello made it 3-2 in the 53rd with a finish from close range after a good ball was whipped in by Jari Vandeputte.
Lecco clawed back again, this time just three minutes later through Andrija Novakovich who headed in another good cross by Ionita.
Sounas had his brace in the 66th with a header from inside the six-yard box.
Catanzaro finally sealed the points with a fifth in the 89th minute from Tommaso Biasci, who was the quickest to react to a free ball in the box before sliding in to send it into the bottom corner.
Lecco are currently in the relegation playoff zone, while Catanzaro are sixth, just five plints behind automatic promotion.
