The home side went ahead in the 12th minute when Panos Katseris drove down the right wing before putting the ball on a silver platter for Pietro Iemmello to smash into an empty net from three yards out.
Iemmello turned provider in the 52nd minute when he tapped the ball to Tommaso Biasci in the box before the latter volleyed it past the keeper.
Catanzaro are sixth on the table while Cosenza are ninth.
