It was the highest-grossing film at the Italian box office in 2023.
Before the movie came out, Cortellesi was best known as a comedy actress.
Matteo Garrone’s migrant drama Io Capitano, which was nominated for best international film at the 2024 Academy Awards, came second with 15 David nominations.
Alice Rohrwacher’s La Chimera got 13 nominations, Marco Bellocchio’s Rapito 11 and Edoardo De Angelis’ Comandante 10.
The David di Donatello awards ceremony will take place on May 3, and will be broadcast by Rai.
