The stunt is part of a long series of controversial acts of civil disobedience the group has staged to draw attention to the climate emergency, including blocking roads and pouring easy-to-wash-off paint over the protective shields of artworks and famous monuments.

“According to the judge, gluing yourself to the protective glass of Botticelli’s Primavera is not a deed worthy of a conviction,” UG said.

“This relieves us, but it does not console us.

“The government is still not committed to make people safe from the climate crisis.”
