The agreement aims to help the most vulnerable members of the Italian community and is the foundation of a solid collaboration between the two organisations.
CO.AS.IT. is a non-profit association whose staff and volunteers work to promote the social and physical wellbeing of the Italian community in Australia, by offering services in collaboration with public and private local bodies.
The Melbourne branch of the organisation has worked with the Consulate General of Italy for years to protect members of the Italian community.
While much of the organisation’s work focuses on senior members of the community, its latest initiative will assist new migrants who have found themselves stranded and struggling financially amid the pandemic.
CO.AS.IT. has provided a simple registration form for vulnerable members of the community to fill out.
The applications will go through a verification process undertaken by staff at CO.AS.IT. and the Consulate General of Italy.
