The away side went close to scoring early on through Alessio Buttaro, but his header was saved by a scrambling Gomis who got across just in time from the other post.
Buttaro would not have to wait long for another chance and got his goal in the 18th minute.
Matteo Brunori picked up the ball just outside the box, turned his defender and shot with his left foot, hitting the post.
The ball fell fortuitously for Buttaro whose finish was deflected in of Gomis’ arm.
Buttaro was clearly high on confidence as he tried a speculative effort from 40 yards out, this time Gomis was able to get more behind it.
Como went agonisingly close to equalising from a wide freekick, with Cas Odenthal’s looping header acrobatically saved by Pigliacelli.
The home side was awarded a penalty when Vignali was brought down in the box by Marco Sala, who was trying to compensate for letting his opponent get goal side.
Alberto Cerri went low and to his left while Pigliacelli guessed wrong.
The second half was full of half chances that neither side could keep on target.
The draw leaves Palermo in 11th, one point outside the playoffs while Como is 13th, three points out.
