Excerpts from the greatest classical ballet works and highlights from contemporary dance repertoire around the globe will be on display, showcasing the highest technical precision from a range of international dancers.

Guest performers hail from the Australian Ballet, the Royal New Zealand Ballet, the San Francisco Ballet, the Berlin State Ballet, the Bavarian State Ballet and the Dortmund Ballet, among others.

Artistic director of the gala, Slava Tutukin, is excited about the melting pot of nationalities on stage.

“This gala is a celebration that aims to unite and connect artists and audiences even in the most difficult of circumstances,” he said.

“Local and international artists will share their personal stories using dance as a universal language.

“Dance has served as a method of communication across global cultures for generations.”

Ex-Sydney Dance Company soloist Davide Di Giovanni will perform at the gala, bringing a wealth of experience to his performance.

Di Giovanni began his career at the Scuola del Balletto di Toscana, before working in Turin, Munich and Sydney.

He has performed in Hollywood, at the Sydney Opera House and worked with Vogue as a movement director.

“Being part of this gala is a form of vitality,” Di Giovanni explained.

“Sharing the stage with dancers from all over the world allows us to connect our souls and movements together for one magical night.

“It will be all the more special after the past few years of restrictions.

“As an Italian, I’m proud to represent my country alongside all the dancers from different nations.

“I’m so grateful to everyone who has been involved with the gala and made it happen.”

The Sydney International Ballet Gala – World Stars of Ballet will take place on Saturday July 16 and Sunday July 17.
