A couple have admitted to tax evasion after eight million euro in cash was found buried on their land in the Franciacorta area.

The two were arrested and taken to jail in relation to suspicions that a company they run issued false invoices for 500 million euro, and dodged 93 million euro in taxes.

"They have admitted to the allegations of the Prosecutor's Office, but given the complexity of the investigation they have reserved the right to speak with the prosecutor as soon as he will hear them,” stated Lorenzo Cinquepalmi, the couple’s lawyer of from Gussago.

The man, Giuliano Rossini, is currently detained in a prison in Cremona, having been subjected to a remote interrogation to validate the arrest of his wife Silvia Fornari, who has been in prison in Verziano since Sunday evening.

In the meantime, the Guardia di Finanza is continuing its investigation, seeking to understand whom the mountain of money found underground and hidden in buckets buried in trapdoors, can actually be traced.

The couple's 22-year-old son and his maternal aunt - who has been under house arrest for a week - have exercised their right not to speak.
