Meanwhile, charges against Mafia boss Leoluca Bagarella, who had been sentenced to 27 years by a Palermo court of appeals, and against doctor turned Mafia boss Nino Cina, who got 12 years at the second-instance trial, were both declared to have timed out under the statute of limitations.
Charges against mafioso turned state witness Giovanni Brusca had already been declared to have timed out.
Former ROS general Mori commented on the Cassation decision saying, “I am partially satisfied considering that for 20 years they kept me on trial”.
“I was convinced I had done nothing; I know my job, I know that if I had made a mistake I would have realised it.”
