“My family and I are not looking for revenge or for culprits, we are looking for justice,” Giuseppe Noschese, the DJ’s father and a doctor, told Rai television.

“I was told the police arrived, and got everyone out, and they were left alone with my son, who was tied hand and foot.

“It would appear that he was beaten in a particularly bad way.”

Spain’s Guardia Civil police said Noschese died of an apparent heart attack after they intervened at a disturbance at a party.

The Guardia Civil of Palma told ANSA that, before his death, Michele Noschese was “under the effects of narcotics”, “suffering hallucinations” and had “threatened an elderly neighbour with a knife”.

“The officers attempted to contain the attacker and at that time Noschese began to have convulsions,” the police said.

They said the officials unsuccessfully attempted to resuscitate him.

The Guardia Civil have opened an investigation, and the results of an autopsy have not yet been released.

Noschese, who had lived in Ibiza for many years, was well known on the electronic music scene and had performed in several cities around the world.

He was also a good footballer when he was young and made it to the topflight in Switzerland but dropped the sport to pursue a career in music.
