SYDNEY – The award was given to Biviano by Mayor Michael Megna in honour of his outstanding contribution to the community.
Born in 1955 in Filicudi, one of the beautiful Aeolian Islands, Biviano emigrated to Australia in 1964 at the age of nine. Ever since settling in the Canada Bay area, he has always considered this community his home.
His professional career was spent in its entirety at the Mediterranean House in Five Dock, where he worked from 1971 until the business closed in 2018.
During these years, he dedicated himself to supporting numerous charitable organisations and cultural groups, offering his voluntary contribution as Master of Ceremonies (MC) and providing financial support to various causes.
After retirement, Biviano continued to serve the community and passionately promote local culture. He currently serves as the executive director of the Canada Bay Club and proudly resumed the presidency of the Aeolian Islands Association, where he has been an active member for over 25 years.
Biviano’s commitment to charity hasn’t stopped either, and in fact extends to numerous initiatives such the Father Attanasio Charitable Fund, the Ferragosto Committee, the Children’s Medical Research Institute and many others.
Over the decades, Biviano has shown incredible dedication to the community. Another example was when he helped raise $225,000 through the Dine & Dance for a Cure committee.
He has tirelessly been promoting the connection between Italian culture and local social life.
In fact, one of Biviano’s most significant achievements was the creation of Piazza Eolie in Five Dock, a lasting tribute to Aeolian culture.
Thanks to his commitment and tireless dedication, Fausto Biviano continues to be a point of reference for the community, embodying the spirit of service and belonging.
