The tie, played at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, featured a stunning attacking display from the visitors and late heroics from La Viola as they saw off a spirited comeback.
Fiorentina started the match with momentum after a commanding 3–0 win in the first leg in Poland—a result that seemingly put them in control of this knockout tie.
But Jagiellonia came out aggressively and turned the game on its head, with Bartosz Mazurek grabbing a remarkable hat-trick to send the home crowd into dismay and level the tie on aggregate during normal time.
Nicolo Fagioli put Fiorentina back ahead in the second half of added time with a looping volley over the keeper, who had come off his line to punch the ball clear moments earlier.
An own goal would ultimately seal the tie just six minutes later, before the visitors got one back in the 118th minute with a long-distance effort that should have been comfortably saved by David de Gea.
With this win, Fiorentina progress to the Europa Conference League Round of 16, where they will await their next opponent after navigating one of the most thrilling ties of the play-offs.
