Possession was split evenly, but the Italian side created far more chances—14 to five.
Yet it was the Polish club who took the lead in the first minute of the second half when Karol Struski’s shot snuck into the near post to beat Fiorentina keeper Oliver Christensen and level the score on aggregate.
In the 68th minute, Fiorentina retook the lead in the tie when Roberto Piccoli’s shot took a deflection and wrongfooted Raków keeper Oliwier Zych.
The home side thought they had a penalty late on, but VAR intervened as no contact had been made and Jonatan Brunes was shown a yellow card for diving.
The match was sealed in the 97th minute when Raków, having sent the keeper up to join the attack, turned the ball over, allowing Marin Pongracic to score into an empty net from his own half.
Fiorentina will now face English Premier League side Crystal Palace in the quarterfinals.
