The team enjoyed an “Italian day” in Sydney, thanks to Club Marconi and its proactive president, Vic Fiorelli.
Club Marconi representatives picked up the rugby players in the morning, and took them to visit various places, including seeing a boxing match featuring Sammy Calabrese.
The morning concluded with lunch at the restaurant Veneziana, a hub for many Italian immigrants, where the Italo-French players were able to see how Italians live and work in Australia.
The team then went to Bossley Park to visit Club Marconi, where they received a warm welcome.
The team played a round of bocce and were congratulated for their win against the Australian side the day before.
The club would have liked to have treated the team to dinner, but at 4:30 pm, they had to say goodbye to their new friends, as they returned to Sydney to attend other important events.
Before leaving Club Marconi, the players posed for some photographs, including one taken in the club atrium, next to the bust of Guglielmo Marconi, symbol of the harmonious union of all the peoples of the world, and close to the marble sheet inscribed with the names of the club founders.
Hands were shaken and the team was wished good luck for their trip in New Zealand.
The team thanked the club for a beautiful day, saying “we will remember Marconi and the cordiality of its management and members, and we will speak of you to the Italians in France”.
