The high school reported the situation to police on April 13, it emerged on Thursday.
The woman told her teachers that she was isolated, and not allowed to eat for two days by family members, who allegedly gave her milk ‘with a bad taste’ that made her fall asleep and later awaken with ‘a big headache’.
The father had reportedly discovered that she had fallen in love with a young compatriot and had allegedly beaten her, sources said.
He had allegedly sat in front of her, kicked her and threatened to cut her throat.
The woman is to be placed in a protected facility after reporting her family for alleged mistreatment and coercion into marriage for trying to force her to wed an older Indian man.
